An Introduction to the Internet for Teaching
Participants will learn the basics of the World Wide Web. They will learn
how to navigate the Internet using a browser. Learn how to perform
searches, using both simple and advanced methods, and discover the
advantages and limitations of search engines. Other topics will include
the anatomy of a web address (URL), detecting plagiarism, and citing
Internet sources.
Workshop Objectives:
1. Discuss the origin of the Internet
2. Define common Internet terms
3. Navigate the Internet using a browser.
4. Understand what a primary source
document is
5. Explore and utilize popular search engines
6. Identify
inappropriate web sites - website evaluation.
7. Discover resources of age appropriate web sites
8. Discuss how a particular web site can be integrated into their
curriculum

Internet Resources for Teaching and Learning
Participants will locate, evaluate and explore Internet resources to
enhance their curriculum. This workshop will provide a list of resources
that will assist you in developing lesson plans, creating rubrics,
calendars, quizzes and other on-line activities. In addition participants
will explore on-line activities that will engage their students.
